About Me
My name is Sue Kochevar. I've been
taking photos all of my life. What
more is there to say other than my whole life revolves around the
visual effects of the world around me.
My Artistic Process
I usually like to shoot photos in
the early
morning or late afternoon. I spend quite a lot of time at Manito Park
on the South Hill of Spokane, Washington. They have an
extraordinary group of gardens and people who tend them and without
them, I would be at a loss for the beauty that I photograph. I thank
them wholeheartedly.
I shoot using an Olympus
EVOLT-E500
digital camera using a handheld monopod and steady hands. The
picture taking process for me is a form of meditation and oftentimes I
find myself so totally lost in taking the photos that I forget that
anyone else is around. I try to shoot from all different angles and
depth of field. I shoot quickly and without a lot of thought process
involved.
When I have finished shooting, I download all photos at once
to my computer. I then go through the process of looking at each photo,
deciding at that time whether or not to keep it. I work with each
photo with a variety of plugins and add-in programs to enhance the
photo until I arrive at the final transformation.
Future Goals
As with any artistic endeavor, I
continue to
learn new skills in Photoshop and increase my skill level with the
camera. In the end, however, I really believe that, like a writer, I
only "take dictation" and am, myself, much like the camera that I use.
When I get out of the way, magic happens!
